Moving Demod/Tuner functions into userspace ?

Good evening.

Sorry, if i didn't found this topic already in the archive, but just as an
idea:

- Have you already discussed if it would gives us some advantages when moving
the control of demodulators and tuners into a userspace programm ?

Normaly the demods and tuners are initialized, tuned to a frequency and when
the signal is locked, no further action is required. So if there is a
interface in the kernel, which calls a userspaces programm to init and tune
to a frequency, this would be enough, or ?

My intension is to speed up the development, when a new
demod/tuner-combination is used by a vendor. Or maybe this could give a
vendor a starting point to release a own binary, when they are not willing to
release some informations.

Regards, Thomas
