A very good case could be made that the reason why no user space apps exist is because they're no API to communicate with on the module side.

Such apps exist in the Windows world.

The DSS "standard" is proprietary belonging to DIRECTV. Unlike DVB,
documentation on the standard is not available.
It is not just the single switch that matters. There will need to be API
changes as well. And to top it up there aren't any userspace
applications yet. The packet size is also different, 127 rather than 188.


Someone has the specs .. ?
