I have 2 questions; the first is from a technical standpoint and the
second (which is EXTREMELY trivial) is strictly out of curiousity:
Question 1.

I glanced at the Zarlink docs and didn't see anything mentioned about

Or stated differently - if the Zarlink IC is not performing this

That's unfortunate news about Xceive's unwillingness, but its certainly
excellent news on Markus' RE'ing efforts!
Anyways, when I read the first part of that message ("not willing to
give us any specs") I was a bit confused, as I was under the impression
that I had read previously that someone was getting a datasheet from
Xceive. I searched the v4l and dvb archives and found that that wasn't
the case. Nonetheless, a curiousity presented itself, and which is
perhaps best asked after unfolding the story:

details (in relation to my curiosity) summarized as following:
- Oliver asks about the Terratec device
- Steve informs its using the Xceive tuner

So then, now that you've digested all that, here's the mystery/curiosity
--- Who contacted Xceive? Unless their mistaken, Xceive's repley to
Markus (where they incorrectly attribute Markus to previously contacting
them) indicates that someone did, sometime roughly back in November.
Did you Oliver? Your later message (second one mentioned in part d)
above), however, might indicate that you hadn't yet tried contacting them.
I told you it was trivial! But hey, curiousity kills this cat :)
