Yes, that was the problematic combination.

You mean the audio interface on the bt8xx card.. ? In this scenario the 
audio/video features on the 878 is not used to transfer A/V but data. In 
most cases except for combo cards you can say the on board audio might 
not be used at all. In the case of combo cards, then the interface would 
be different.
