[linux-dvb] [PATCH] bttv freeze fix for kernels > 2.6.10-rc2

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hi,

Attached is a freeze fix for the bttv module for kernel > 2.6.10-rc2.
The patch worked for me against a 2.6.11.2 kernel.

My test setup was
card = Twinhan VP-1030A/1032A
kernel = 2.6.11.2
dvb-kernel = 03-April-2005

If people can test this patch out, and let know whether it works for
them as well without hitches, Then the patch could go in, such that the
2.6.12 has a bttv module that does not freeze the entire system.

The patch is a quick hack to prevent the freeze, but not a complete
solution to the fix.
Maybe the new v4l maintainer could make the exact required changes based
upon this patch.

PS: Avermedia owners also please do test this patch out. I am surprised
that no Avermedia owners complained about a freeze..

Manu
