Patch was appplied to raw 2.6.11. Before the patch, the Aver loaded, then the VisionPlus, then the kernel hanged (bttv_verbose last said BT878ARESET?). After the patch, both load and scan just fine. Bravo! 2.6.12 badly needs this!
