The really useful thing would be something like

   ardour3 --cleanup <session_dir>

which would just do the cleanup without starting the GUI,
requiring Jack, etc.

On a related note: some recent versions seem to ignore
the path set in the new session dialog, and always use
the default path from the rc file.
