What are trim pots good for, if you will do the mix? And much more
important, why do they require a plugin network protocol?

You are ignoring the context and you could not give a single example,
to help me understand what you try to archive. You only provide
fragments of something obscure.

I'm not against plugins, I'm not against innovations. I'm even not
against trim pots.
