My suggestion is to proceed as follows. Shutdown and detach a much external hardware as possible. Reboot and check the loaded modules with $ lsmod Starting with: $ sudo modprobe -r 537ep and otherwise proceeding from the top of the lsmod list, unload as many modules as possible, shuting down processes as necessary. Below is the script I use for this purpose on my Mac Airbook but it will be different for PCs When as many modules as possible are unloaded, $ modprobe 537ep then $ dmesg | grep 537 to asses if the module linking problem has been by passed.
