It is indeed a CONEXANT modem, but now which driver to use, I will
look up in linuxant page

My guess is that you would need to install linuxant alsa package:

http://www.linuxant.com/alsa-driver

then build the driver with generic source

http://www.linuxant.com/drivers/hsf/full/archive/hsfmodem-7.80.02.06full/hsfmodem_7.80.02.06full_i386.deb.zip

I don't know if those packages are available yet, but give them a try.
