Sounds promising...though I don't know how to go about and detach
*any* devices, let alone the USB one! I know something about the
blacklist, which I used for a while, to turn off the internal atheros
wifi on a netbook which I have since sold. Otherwise, w/o a little
more detailed instruction, I'll have to look around the admin services
from the menu, and see if there is any way provided to shut down those
particular USB devices.
All just before starting a wvdial out, from another console watch
kernel messages with:
$ sudo tail /var/log/messages &
That I understand, including the "&" switch (error checking).
Thanks again, Marvin. Until you get back to me, I think I'll simply
try the script suggested by Antonio, keep my fingers crossed.
