Aditya slmodemd -c /dev/slamr0 should have been slmodemd -c INDIA /dev/slamr0 ----- I'll check the package for a mistake later. But I expect that your installation is fine anyway. Just $ sudo gedit /etc/default/sl-modem-daemon and change the country from the default USA to INDIA Then do $ sudo /etc/init.d/sl-modem-daemon restart Loaded drivers should be reported by: $ lsmod | grep slamr $ lsmod | grep ungrab Further check for modem setup with: $ ls -l /dev/ttySL0 /dev/pts/* /dev/slamr0 if there is reported: /dev/ttySL0 -> /dev/pts/N(some number) then setup is normal. and you can try a dialout, with: $ sudo wvdial Also what is returned by: $ grep slamr /etc/modprobe.d/* Marv S scanModem maintainer On Sun, Sep 27, 2009 at 12:53 PM, Antonio Olivares <olivares14031@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: > Aditya, > > scanModem also reported that: > > The dialer utility package WVDIAL does not appear to be installed on > your System. > Please read Modem/DOCs/wvdial.txt > > But now since you have it installed, this should be no problem.
