I'm using ubuntu 9.0.4 RC with SLMODEMD_gcc4.3_alsa1.0.18.tar.gz, and
kernel 2.6.28-11-generic. I disabled everything other than lo. I am
getting prompted now for a password but no matter what I do it times
out. I've tried entering the password and not entering the password when
prompted. Suggestions? Either way it times out as shown below.

Am I suppose to be loading a low-level driver at some point?

I also noticed in README that it doesn't seem to support my setup.

Supported Hardware
==================

HAMR5600 based AMR/CNR/MDC/ACR modem cards on the following Southbridge
chips:
- Intel ICH0,ICH2, ICH3, ICH4
- Via 686A, 686B, 8231, 8233
- SiS 630
- ALI 1535.
SmartPCI56/561/562/563 based PCI modem cards.
SmartUSB56 based USB modem.

It doesn't mention ICH9. My lspci output is:

00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio
Controller (rev 03)

Here is everything that I've done:
