"The ALSA verion is 1.0.19" output from the scanModem script is from a call:
   aplay --version
and this is typically matched with other ALSA components of an installation.

On the Ubuntu Jaunty I just upgraded to:
     aplay --version
aplay: version 1.0.18 by Jaroslav Kysela <perex@xxxxxxxx>
So if is indeed puzzling as to why TouRs is 1.0.19

TourR,
Have you done any cogent alternations to your System.
