People more expert than me may know much more about your modem, but one thing is certain, setserial has nothing to do with that and minicom is the worst choice (to my taste) to debug a linmodem.

We recommend to use wvdial:
1-one time to configure wvdial with the command
    wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf
2-edit /etc/wvdial.conf for the username, phone number and password
given to you by your ISP
For example
;Username = < Your Login Name >
should be changed to
Username = umarsaid
if umarsaid is the user name given by uour ISP
Note that the correct line has no ; no < and no >
3-run wvdial to try to connect
4-you must be root (or su) to use wvdialconf and wvdial

Use man wvdialconf, man wvdial.conf , and man wvdial for details.

Hi all,

I have the same problem with Agere SV92PP(11c10620 AGRSM) in Debian Etch. After
I compile the source code successfully and insmod agrmodem.ko and insmod
agrserial.ko, the following message appear in /var/log/message or dmesg.

Oct  8 21:19:49 localhost kernel: PCI: Enabling device 0000:02:0c.0 (0000 ->
0001)
Oct  8 21:19:49 localhost kernel: ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:02:0c.0[A] -> GSI 20
(level, low) -> IRQ 217
Oct 8 21:19:49 localhost kernel: agrsm: created 1 infos
Oct  8 21:20:04 localhost kernel: ttyAGS3 at I/O 0xb400 (irq = 217) is a
AgereModem
Oct 8 21:20:04 localhost kernel: agrserial: Loading module Agere Modem
Interface driver version 2.1.60.0.Linspire (2005-11-16)

I conclude that the driver load normally. Then I use minicom and set serial
device to /dev/ttyAGS3 and 115200 8N1. But when I type some AT command, there
is no response from the modem. Before that, I try the modem in Windows and type
the same AT command using 115200 8N1 and the modem responded.

Is there anyone successful in using Agere SV92PP(11c10620 AGRSM) under Linux
especially Debian Etch. Any hints will be appreciated.

Regards,
Umar
