Alex,
A few issues to work through1) /proc/asound/card0/codec#1 has the audio function info,Please send the output of $ cat /proc/asound/card0/codec#0as this will likely provide the softmodem chip info.More broadly, please$ cp -a /proc/asound APT$ tar cfz APT.tgz APT/and send only to me the APT.tgz to analyze.
2) PCI: Setting latency timer of device 0000:00:1b.0 to 64hda_codec: Unknown model for ALC883, trying auto-probe from BIOS...There may not yet be support for ALC883 in your ALSA version. What is your output of:$ aplay --version
3) hda-intel: invalid format_val, rate=9600, ch=1, format=2hda-intel: invalid format_val, rate=9600, ch=1, format=2--------This is an ALSA bug, now supposedly corrected (excerpting from ALSAmaintainer report:========= tiwai - 05-18-07 17:12----------------------------------------------------------------------The 9600HZ support was fixed again in the recent version (2.6.22-rc1).=========So upgrading your kernel might help.
Please report back.
