Re: SuSE problem, HDA hosted modem

Robert,

Kinternet under SuSE is a front end to wvdial. There have been cases
hwne KInternet provides service when using wvdial he directly fails.
Try running the KInternet setup specifying /dev/ttySL0 as the port.
There will be written a /etc/wvdial.conf file. Compare it with your
wvtest. You may have to manually enter
Carrier Check = no
into /etc/wvdial.conf.
Then try a dialout with KInterent

You will have to do the slmodemd command manual first,
but could implement automation once all else is working.

Marvin,
deselecting Off Hook in KMix / Switches helps, the phone line stays
alive. But it does not help much.

# wvdialconf wvtest
finds a modem at /dev/ttySLO as before, but
# wvdial --config wvtest
dials my ISP, I can hear hissing sound, finds no carrier, tries again
and finally disconnects as before, see my mail of June 1st below.

I also configured YaST2 / Network Devices / Modem on /dev/ttySLO and
further as it does work on my desktop computer, but KInternet does not
even dial on the laptop.

Sorry, I don't understand what to do with
00-06: Si3054 Modem : Si3054 Modem : playback 1 : capture 1
etc.
