SuSE problem, HDA hosted modem

Robert,

I'm not adequately familiar with OpenSuse, and this is clearly an SuSE
init scripts issue. Someone on the List may be more familiar with
SuSE.
but within the Control Panel, you can likely disable attempted dialout
on bootup.

Thus you can better observe the results of your command actions
and your System

00-06: Si3054 Modem : Si3054 Modem : playback 1 : capture 1
00-02: ALC883 Digital : ALC883 Digital : playback 1
00-01: ALC883 Analog : ALC883 Analog : capture 2
00-00: ALC883 Analog : ALC883 Analog : playback 1 : capture 2
with AgereSoft modem chip and activation:
# slmodemd -c PORTUGAL --alsa hw:0,6

Marvin,
I tried what you advised but without success.

I found that my phone line dies when booting Linux.
It seems that during Linux startup the laptop picks up the phone but
does not dial, and then my line is shut down by Portugal Telecom.

When I disconnect the line from the laptop, my phone revives.
When I reconnect the laptop again and pick up the phone to hear what
happens, I hear busy tones and after a while, silence.

All this is before I ran slmodemd, so /dev/pts has only 0 and 1.

Booting Windows on the laptop does not disrupt the phone line.

Please advise.
Robert
