Dave, I'm not under Linux now. Read the hsfmodem documentation in case my following commands are not exactly correct. As root run: # hsfconfig --diagnose This will run diagnostics and write a log file in your /tmp folder. Send your email describing symptoms with the log attached to modem.support@xxxxxxxxxxxxx They provide the service for such Conexant modem problems. Hi I installed the above rpm; there were no problems except a message about sound drivers, however on reboot into mandrake kde desktop I no longer have sound (eg no sound when kde starts), I still get the "Failed" message about ppp0 not activated during boot and there is no longer a mouse (not even a mouse pointer is on the screen). Is there any useful info I can provide at this stage? dave
