Hi James, I've never seen a Windows "live cd". The DOS route is complex and I can see two options. If you have a DOS driver for your modem then you could boot to DOS, install your modem, and then use a terminal emulator to send the ATi commands requested by Jacques. Alternatively, you could use a PCI diagnostic tool to examine your hardware and extract the Vendor ID and Device ID values (this will require some detailed hardware knowledge). I suspect that at the end of this you will find your modem is unsuitable for reliable fax communication. You might want to consult the hylafax.org user groups for solid alternatives before wasting your time.
