This is a problem that has been encountered in Slackware 11. It appeared to be a problem with Bash but is still being looked into. Although the scanModem script could be re-coded around it... substituting constructs like `ls -l` by $(ls -l) it doesn't appear to be a fault with scanModem. I'll report back further if I come up with a substantive explanation of what's really going on. Are you asserting that _only some_ Fedora Core 5 installations don't show this behaviour? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-|message from the cookie daemon| The times do not appear propitious for violence or militancy but surely a bit of sabotage and imaginative disruption is never out of place. -- John Pate <johnny@xxxxxxxxxx> Edinburgh, Scotland (home PC) Disclaimer: I've probably changed my opinions by the time you read this -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
