If an eth0 channel is open,
the System will try to use the DNS appropriate to eth0, and that will fail.
That is my other COMM channels should be closed before a dialout session,
even if the other channels are not effectively connected.

        Then there's something hokey with the compile that on linking it
looks at the wrong things - I shouldn't have to symlink to make it work.

        I'll look into it again tomorrow (it's midnight now.  I was trying
to ping the DNS server by its reported IP address, so it wouldn't matter
what was in resolve.conf anyway.
