I excuted the instructions as you stated below, with two diferent Console windows, and leaving slmodemd loaded. But with no sucess. getting the "no dialtone" message yet.

Jacques suggested to execute the following:
sudo slmodemd -c USA --alsa -s hw:0,1 -debug=3D3 2>&1 | tee problem.txt

I sending you the results

Felix

Felix,

The modem setup is OK as far as you have gone with
sudo slmodemd -c USA --alsa -s hw:0,1

But to continue, open a 2nd console and
$ sudo wvdialconf   /etc/wvdial.conf
which should report finding the modem and write /etc/wvdial.conf

Do an edit with
$ sudo gedit  /etc/wvdial.conf
putting in your personal information and adding a line
Carrier Check  =  no

See the wvdial.txt sample in the SLMODEMD.gcc4.1/ folder

With /etc/wvdial.conf completed, try a dialout with:
$ sudo wvdial

The slmodemd must be ket running during a dialout session.

Efectively I ran in 1st Console window:
sudo slmodemd -c USA --alsa -s hw:0,1

- Response
SmartLink Soft Modem: version 2.9.11 Feb 15 2007
23:08:19
symbolic link /dev/ttySL0' -> /dev/pts/1' created.
modem hw:0,1' created. TTY is /dev/pts/1'
Use /dev/ttySL0' as modem device, Ctrl+C for
termination.

Then open a second Console window and ran the test below.

¿ Do I need to load another driver ?

Thanks and Regards
Felix
