slmodemd and alsa > 1.0.9: off-hook-channel doesn't get muted any more

Hallo!

I was using slmodemd with alsa support and alsa 1.0.9 without any problems.
Now I upgraded to alsa 1.0.13 and slmodem-2.9.11-20070204 but if I start up
slmodemd and do:

echo "atdt 123456;" > /dev/modem
sleep 10
echo "ath0" > /dev/modem

the modem goes on hook but monitoring with "alsamixer -c 1" the off-hook-
channel doesn't get muted any more and no new call is possible nor reception.
Doing "amixer -c1 set 'Off-hook' off" is no work around for me because I need
to be able to do callback-connections. There pppd keeps running while waiting
for the callback and an "amixer -c1 set 'Off-hook' off" kills pppd there (also
very hard to time).
So how can I get the old behaviour back that the off-hook-channel mutes when
the modem does it?

I am very thankful for any help or ideas.
