Lynx, RE: > I have to uncomment "slmodemd: -lasound" As instructed towards the end of the README, the command to use is: # make clean # make SUPPORT_ALSA=1 which I just checked. LFS 5.1.1 on Linux version 2.6.20 kernel is leading edge for us. I can't assess how this contributes to the failure of echo "ath0" > /dev/modem for your AgereSystems SIL27 codec modem: Class 0703: 1039:7013 Modem: Silicon Integrated Systems Primary PCI_id 1039:7013 Subsystem PCI_id 17c0:1059 It is beyond my knowledge as to how the problem splits out between slmodemd and ALSA code. I was using slmodem-2.9.11-20051101 then. slmodem-2.9.11-20051101 works fine with alsa 1.0.9. I noticed that since 1.0.10 alsa has dmix by default (it's why I would like to have a newer alsa). I checked with slmodem--2.9.11-20061021 and it's slightly different: echo "atdt 123456;" > /dev/modem #dials sleep 10 echo "ath0" > /dev/modem #mutes modem but does no on-hook as echo "atdt 123456;" > /dev/modem #just unmutes the modem and I can still hear the voice #saying line engaged, when calling my own number. By the way: I have to uncomment "slmodemd: -lasound" in modem/Makefile to compile slmodemd succesfully. Elsewise I get: make[1]: *** No rule to make target `-lasound', needed by `slmodemd'. Stop. make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/slmodemd/slmodem-2.9.11-20061021/modem' make: *** [modem] Error 2 ModemData.txt attached. Would be great to get it work with a newer alsa.
