I don't know if anyone packages trunk, and if they do, you'd be looking at /very/ frequent updates (at least weekly if the packages are adequately maintained). I build from source, which isn't terribly difficult, just time consuming (as in, it really is a good idea to remember to do it about once a week at least, and you'll occasionally hit build errors).
