Are you sure your gsm provider don't use some weirds proxy ?

You can configure you phone to do some tethering. Then you connect your
laptop through you phone. Try to use Thunderbird to connect to your cyrus
server. If it's work you will know the problem are on the phone (some virus
protection, etc.). If it's not working you could do some tcpdump.
