Normally I'd suspect a bad cell provider, or a bad wifi connection, or whatever, but I've now had this across two physical phones (pixel 6, pixel 8 pro), two email clients (gmail, bluemail), three wifi (work, home, gf), and GSM.

If anyone has other debugging options I might take, I'd be appreciative.

Would it be possible to run tcpdump on both ends of the connection (perhaps using a WiFi to 5G router on the client end) simultaneously to see if anything is going missing?

Hmm, that's an interesting idea.

I don't know why, but I hadn't thought to packet capture on the client side - I guess I'd thought it wasn't feasible, but it turns out there's several packet capture apps for Android. I'll try one of those and compare that to the server side tcpdump.

Thanks!
