Eliot [GD] One thing that needs to be considered in this are the benefits to the Internet and IETF participants that take advantage of them of the numerous side meetings and events that take place around an IETF meeting for the simple reason
that the IETF critical mass is in town. There have been interest group workshops, open source events, university workshops, whole conferences in the days before and after, etc.
[GD] We (the IETF) by our presence in a region/city help support and enable much valuable Internet technology and policy work.
