Did you double-check with an optometrist?
It can, and I have the trifocals to prove it.

One can have an eye shaped to be rather
far-sighted (at-rest focus beyond infinity)
but also have sufficient strength and flexibility
to pass as 20/20 or better.  With presbyopia, that
eye is stuck focused past infinity, so no distance
is clear without correction.  Welcome to my world.
