The dominant constraint is finding hosts to sponsor the event. Switching to choosing a venue before finding a host has been superbly helpful, but sites are still chosen in terms of likely candidates for sponsorship. Periodically, another dominant constraint seems to be efforts at marketing the IETF to different parts of the world. Given the choices being made for venues now and the likely future, points raised in: http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-palet-ietf-meeting-venue-selection-criteria ? are not dominating the selection process. Take a look at the recent survey results: http://www.ietf.org/mail-archive/web/recentattendees/current/msg00024.html Then make some guesses about where we are likely to go in the near future... d/ -- Dave Crocker Brandenburg InternetWorking bbiw.net
