Let me inform you all, then when we did the experiment a few years
back, I was monitoring/steering that experiment. And I did ALWAYS
check the XML file by generating an I-D out of it, comparing it 
with the I-D we were supposed to be submitting XML for, and whenever
there was a mismatch, flags would get raised and diffs would be 
carefully checked.

I agree, once the IESG approves a doc, any changes should be handled 
very carefully. What seems editorial to one person may not seem so 
to someone else.
