This will be very helpful. As I have suggested in another context, I would encourage you and the IASA apparatus to consider, on a case-by-case basis, whether going even a bit further might not be in order. For example, while I would not have expected the Secretariat to round up a Ducks or equivalent vehicles to ferry people across unexpected lakes and rivers (formerly believed to be roads) in Dallas, I would expect you to consider IETF-specific arrangements for airport <-> hotel transport when that seems justified by circumstances and can be predicted in advance. Such arrangements need not be a big deal: if meeting hotels are willing to make transport arrangements for attendees (as is apparently the case here), you might figure out a way to announce that and the way to make arrangements, as an option. If some taxi or shuttle operation appears, on your investigation, to have a particularly good reputation, you might consult with them and recommend them explicitly (with or without arrangements for some "IETF rate" or other accommodation). Those are the sorts of things that "the community" cannot, in general, do for itself -- the job has to be done by either the local people or the IASA. I don't think what I'm looking for is especially demanding or out of line with normal arrangements for large meetings, but I do think it is likely to be increasingly important as we have IETF participants from an increasing number of locations and we recognize that with meetings in those locations. >... > Your comments are constructive and inspire us to raise our > game. I know I will hear from you if we haven't. Thanks. And, yes, indeed -- someone has to play the curmudgeon role around here :-) best regards, john _______________________________________________ Ietf@xxxxxxxx https://www1.ietf.org/mailman/listinfo/ietf
