Well, I'll be honest: I thought the authors were humoring the process (though I do not speak for them and they have never talked to me about this point off-list).

I did watch the IETF meeting on YouTube where people insisted on PRECIS, and I thought it was weird.

I recognized the issue because I understood it like fish understand water. It didn't even occur to me that people would miss it.
