I'd be cautious about depending on that, in particular if flying into Dublin from the UK. Dublin airport basically has no "domestic" arrival area these days, so those arriving from UK flights will go through passport control. If you want, you can I believe choose to not display your passport there but show your UK boarding card and some ID, but I'd guess that's more hassle than it's worth, unless you like to exercise the rules. Personally, I just use my passport there. If your last leg were e.g. a ryanair flight, then you might also want to input your passport details at online checkin time, but again if you want to play with the system, apparently other forms of ID also work. If OTOH, you end up driving down from Belfast or similar, then there are no checks and you cross the border without noticing. And yes, that doesn't make a ton of sense, but... history:-) Cheers, S.
