I noticed that folks were using the chairs sitting in the hall for conversations/small side meetings or just as a place to sit to do work or get on a call between sessions. I did the latter and had to wander at times to find such a place. One factor may be that there were a lot of folks staying at other hotels, Airbnbs etc so it’s not really convenient to go back and forth during the day between sessions. So you find a place to park for a bit before the next session.
To Rich’s question, when I’ve gone to other conferences (both tech and non-tech) there isn’t extra seating out in the hallways but those are usually much more focused events and single track.

I went to a few side meetings in Brisbane, but as it turned out, none in
Vancouver. I guess I didn't notice any extra seating. Are these chairs in
the hallway that can be brought into the room, or what?
