I assumed a typo for "US credit card"
the machines insisted upon having a zip code, which even if we were to insert
one that was valid ("90210"), of course, it wouldn't match out CC.
meanwhile, the rest of the world has 10+ years of CHIP+PIN verification,
which the US still has only half-caught up to :-(
