There was at least one, though I didn't have Texas specifically in mind. I've never been under the illusion that the US would stick to its core principles if the political situation became too polarized. The idea that "might makes right" is far too entrenched in US culture, even if there's not widespread agreement on what version of "right" must be enforced by "might".
