i am constantly amused that the internet engineering task force tries
to replicate in-person meetings as verbatim as possible. it's as if
the ietf has yet to discover the internet. ever read sci-fi where a
culture replicates ancient rituals for which they do not even remember
the reasons?

for example, a number of us have stood up jitsi servers. and there are
https://meet.jit.si, free zoom, et alia, of course. we even hold
informal ad hoc technical conversations, open cafes, ... without asking
the ruling ietf llc <gasp!>.

the world is changing, whether we like it, or it fits our beloved well
controlled models, or not.
