There are a number if diagnostic files attached to the many duplicate bug reports about this, linked from the one I referenced in the original message: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/430361 Here's one related log snippet: http://launchpadlibrarian.net/31860273/OopsText.txt For the first time I noticed the reference to "time-admin" crashing, or perhaps it's actually ntpd that's crashing: type=1505 audit(1253058018.644:12): operation="profile_load" pid=5886 name=/usr/sbin/ntpd time-admin[5927]: segfault at 0 ip 00fab9ba sp bf91f94c error 4 in libc-2.10.1.so[f39000+151000]` Although it looks like this may be unrelated log entry having to do with the "profile_load" operation. I am at work now, but can look at this more on my Karmic laptop at home. I can connect the PIDs from the log files with the name of the program that may still be running.
