just to confirm to you there is a patch applied on my distribution...

It was exactly what was missing... I applied the patch and it is o working now

There is no build parameter needed for this, i.e., that should work
regardless of how the build is configured. Do you have the main netdev

your are right I was about to say on my first email that my
interface is part of an openvswitch bridge.
I remember in the past I needed to patch to make it work but I don't
need to do it anymore on the version on ArchLinux
Does that mean the version is built with some patches the source
doesn't include?
It is possible that ArchLinux has applied some additional patches into
the release packages. There has been some changes that could have
affected functionality with openvswitch, but I thought they were all old
enough to be included in v2.5. You might want to run a quick test with
the current git repository snapshot and if that is showing different
behavior, try to find the ArchLinux source package to see what changes
it does on top of the upstream release.
