The Siemens HG-1500 board does support H.323, but
in a very funny way.
You can register the HG module into a H.323
compatible gatekeeper (the HG module acts as an endpoint), but:
1. you can not set the TTL of the
endpoint
2. it does not pay attention to the TTL of the
gatekeeper, the TTL is hardcoded to 60sec.
3. You can register a prefix into the gatekeeper.
Good catch!
4. You can NOT configure a trunk group in the PBX
to send all calls to the HG module and then to the GK.
This was the case with version 2. At the time I
tested this, Siemens mentioned something about a new version, but never had the
chance to see it.
Btw, version 1 was considered as NON-WORKING
:)

Subject: Re: connect
H.323 endpoints to PSTN phones
Sorry, my first mail had an error, I
meant:
"I want to know the best way to place calls from
H.323 endpoints to PSTN phones using my Siemens HiPath
HG1500 PBX."
The Siemens HiPath HG1500 PBX uses a Siemens
CorNet-IP proprietary protocol, similar to H.323.
I think the HiPath PBX allows the connection to a
Gatekeeper... but I didnt managed to put it to work. Do I need some extra
hardware or software in the middle?? maybe Asterisk will do
it?????
Does someone in the list have a similar
configuration?
Thanks
Joao Pereira
