I cannot get FC6 (or FC6T4, or Rawhide) to recognize one of the software raid partitions as a PV for the LVs.
Does this partition, or a physical disk below it, has, by any
chance, a spurious RAID signature?

See https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=176623#c8

Maybe this is something else, but just an idea ...
Hmmmm....interesting idea and very plausible. Will following the steps in 176623 cause the current data to be lost?

If this is a part of an active RAID then this should not be an
issue. If this signature is really spurious then it should not be
there and I do not think that anything will be lost although I
cannot tell for sure in all situations. I am not that familiar with
details of such setups. In any case, if this is _really_ what you
are looking at, then 'dmraid -E -r ...' makes a backup, in root
$HOME AFAICT, of metadata removed.

Proceed with caution but I, for one, am quite interest in what
you will find.

dmraid consistently returns "no RAID disks" no matter what parameter/path/device name I give it. The arrays were originally created with mdadm. Would

mdadm --zero-superblock /dev/md1

work?
