I cannot get FC6 (or FC6T4, or Rawhide) to recognize one of the software

Does this partition, or a phisical disk below it, has, by any
chance, a spurious RAID signature? This was not an issue in FC5 and
below. If this happens to be the case then use 'dmraid -r -E ...'
to clean that up. I bumped into that with "recycled" disks where I
was not even aware that some time in the past they were used as part
of RAID. Somewhat nasty and it would be really nice to a clearer
indication what is happening instead of leaving that as a "dark
corner".
It is listed as foreign in the anaconda partitioner.
It will be "busy" once you booted with no outward indication
what makes that partition "busy" beyond that all 'open' calls fail.

Maybe this is something else, but just an idea ...

Hmmmm....interesting idea and very plausible. Will following the steps
in 176623 cause the current data to be lost? Or is it still there and
I just finish up by restoring the LVM structure from the LVM backup?
Thank you very much for the response.
