All 3.16 kernels before 3.16.0-0.rc2.git0.1 are just fundamentally broken on i686, I think, unless you pass 'vdso=0'. I wouldn't bother messing with anything unless you're using the rc2 kernel, or passing vdso=0.

With Kernel 3.16.0-0.rc1.git4.1.fc21.i686+PAE on i865G I have to use telnet or ssh. Otherwise when init seems near completion, the screen goes black and stays that way. I commented in someone else's bug (and got scolded): https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1104371
No improvement with Kernel 3.16.0-0.rc2.git0.1.fc21.i686+PAE with or without vdso=0.
