as ooposed to just using CentOS ? I don't see any.

* Make available binaries as part of Fedora brand and have some Fedora releases with a longer lifecycle
* Kill the "beta" memo
* Support coordination with EPEL more easily

There are a lot of potential advantages. Otherwise discussions like these will likely continue every now and then.
