there is a chance on armv7 I think

+ /usr/bin/cmake -S . -B redhat-linux-build
'-DCMAKE_C_FLAGS_RELEASE:STRING=-O2 -g -DNDEBUG'
'-DCMAKE_CXX_FLAGS_RELEASE:STRING=-O2 -g -DNDEBUG' 

the "-g" here IMO overrides the -g1 from the earlier flags setting
