If you search fedora calendar for java-sig you get an empty list. There is java-devel mailing list which is a (very) „low traffic“ list.

I use often what is probably „the other" commercially available OS. I’ve to download everything including the JRE from third party sources and have to setup and maintain everything myself. 

On Fedora, especially all my servers, I really appreciate that all of this is done for me automatically, including notification and installation of updates - if a rpm is available.
