I don't have a graphical Gentoo install these days, but last I tried it LibreOffice did take a few days (maybe 2-3?). KDE was epic too. The kernel actually isn't so bad, as long as you only build the modules you need for your hardware. gcc takes a long time too, due to the staged builds.
