I've been manually partitioning physical machines that I install Fedora on for exactly this reason. Similar to moving to VMs, it is especially useful when you need to replace hardware (where the new hardware uses a different firmware), as you can just put the drives in the new machine. Under the current automatic partitioning, a switch from BIOS to EFI requires repartitioning (both changing partition table type *and* partition sizes to make room for ESP), which may even be "impossible" if the system is on XFS. I would greatly appreciate a move to a uniform GPT+EF02+EF00 partitioning default with a shared boot loader config. _______________________________________________ devel mailing list -- devel@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe send an email to devel-leave@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Fedora Code of Conduct: https://getfedora.org/code-of-conduct.html List Guidelines: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines List Archives: https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/devel@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx/message/K4G7HVPH7AP35DSVDHLS5XFTAYJ654ZP/
